Bridgeport advice needed M

Hello,
I recently purchased a 1918 south bend lathe. I am going to sell it to afforded a beginners mill. I plan on lightly using it and maybe for some precision drilling. I am learning how to machine. I do have a phase converter I built so three phase is not a issue.
I recently found a bridgeport m mill for a good deal. It is listed as complete but the main head housing is broke.
So can you get this part? Is it a good starting mill? Am I crazy? Could I get it and some day upgrade to a better head?

Thanks any advise is appreciated.
Ed
