HI All:
I have another issue with my bridgeport (series 1 varispeed 2hp) . . . :scratchchin:
It makes a swishing noise when in low speed. IN high speed it's not so noticeable although it seems to still be there.
I found a video that seems to duplicate the noise but the fix is something I don't understand. That is, the fella that posted the video presumes a level of knowledge that is different than mine so I don't quite get what he's talking about when he explains why what he does works to fix the problem. :dunce:
I've put the 3 videos in this post.
These first two give an example of the kind of noise my machine is making:
#1
Bridgeport Milling Machine - Still Loud - YouTube
#2
Bridgeport Milling Machine - Noise Diagnosing - YouTube
This third video shows the fix:
#3
Bridgeport Milling Machine - (Noise) Problem SOLVED! - YouTube
The noise is pretty much identical to the noise my Bridgy makes. It's a swish swish swish at each revolution most noticeably at low speed; louder than the video it seems.
Can someone explain what he means in the fix video when he talks about why changing the diameter on the pins works?
Or is this not an example of a problem with a vari-speed due to the different pulley arrangement?
Thanks,
Psient
