Hi,
My trusty 1962 Bridgeport "J" head is very noisy in low gear.
When I push up on the spindle pulley, the noise goes away.
(Surgeon says the thumb can probably be re-attached.)
I found some posts here about noisy "J" head, which helped.
A spacer installed in the right place might stop the noise.
But if I have to take it apart anyway, (after using it for 30 years w/ few repairs), might be a good time to do a little maintenance.
Found a "Top Half Rebuild Kit for Bridgeport Step Pulley Head" kit for sale.
Would like to get this done before I retire next year, won't be able to afford the parts after.
Is there anything else I should be replacing/upgrading when I take the head apart?
Probably won't get another chance at this.
Thanks,
Frank
