I'd very much like to get opinions from folks here on the best location to mount an emergency stop button on my J head Series 1. After a lot of refurb, I finally ran it this week using a Teco FM 50 VFD for 3 phase power. I remoted on, off, reverse, and speed rheostat and they work like a champ. Besides power and speed control, the FM 50 can also be set up to allow said emergency stop button. Tested the function and it does indeed stop things right NOW.
I picked up a proper button & enclosure when I bought the other switch components and my first inclination is to mount it on the right side of the knee just far enough back that VFD will be safe from accidental shut down but I can still whack it with my knee if needed. Any thoughts of other possible/ better locations? Are emergency stop buttons a useless complication? Any pro or con war stories from the shop floor?
Many thanks for any and all input.
