Questions about some J-heads I bought

I made the a rash decision and bought a nice 48x40 oak pallet that was being firmly held to the floor by 5 Bridgy J-heads of varying types. Two are standard heads with 1hp motors, two are high-speed heads with 1-1/2hp motors, and then there is a motorless head with a low serial number and no bore or notch for the worm that would rotate the head relative to the X axis (the '57 dovetail ram J-head at the shop I last worked with original head was J29662, this one is J12767).

And so I wonder:

Is the low S/N head without worm provision meant for a round ram?

The two high speed heads have consecutive S/Ns, main casting and belt housing tags both. One has the flip down guards that keep fingers out of the belts, the other does not and is not drilled and tapped for them. Seems odd that there would be this difference. Why is this?

Is there any record of head numbers out there that may atleast pin down era of build of Bridgy heads?

I will post photos of the heads soon.

Thanks guys.
