Advice On A Leveling Mount For Bridgeport Mill

Fellows,

I have a Bridgeport J head mill for my home hobby shop. One of the ones with the little 36" table. My concrete floor was poorly finsihed and is uneven so I would like to add feet for leveling. I have looked at some of the mountings other people on this site have used. One of my goals is to minimize how high the mounting system raises the mill.

My thoughts where two pieces of 1018 flat steel, 1/2" x 1 1/2" by a little longer than the width of the mill base. One for the front of the mill and one for the back of the mill. I would use the four holes in the corners of the mill base to secure these steel flats to the base. These mounting bolts would not be drawn fully tight so as not to "twist" the base but just keep the flats in place.

Outboard of the base, on each side of the base, I would put one of the swiveling steel machine leveling feet. I was thinking with a stud thread of 5/8" x 11 as seen at this link McMaster-Carr

I'm not an engineer so I'm wondering ifthis flat would be adequate for my task? Would the 5/8" x 11 thread be suitable?

Thank you in advance to those that assist me,

Vlad
