Bridgeport Motor Stator - options?

I’m looking at a Bridgeport 2hp VS. It is currently inop. The motor is apart and there was some sort of thermal event in the stator. The rotating assembly appears to be in good shape. Any options besides getting a replacement motor or stator? I’d guess a rewind will be as expensive as a replacement. Will any non BP stators interchange?
