Repetitive operations drilling rods held in a collet. Do you clean the collet during?

Say you have 10 bushings to drill a hole through. The solid blank can be one longer piece that is parted off for each drilled section.
Or the blanks can be say 1 inch long.

The thing is:
Every time the collet is loosened to accept the next section the drilling residue has a opportunity to sink into the three openings of the
collet spring and wear out the taper and collet. Add to that if you are using coolant or oil. I started to clean the collet after every one
or two parts. Boring to unwind that collet out each time.
