Bridgeport Quill Feed Lever Problem

I purchased a 1962 Bridgeport with J-Head, disassembled it, and have been restoring and reassembling it over the last several months. I am almost through. Now I find that when trying to attach the J-Head Quill Feed Lever, the post on which it is mounted seems to be "out of position" and cannot be rotated to allow the lever to reach all three feed speed positions. I'm not sure if I have stripped something or am just making a rookie mistake. I have included a photo of the J-Head as received, and the "Refurbished Head" with its mounting post for the selection lever. Any suggestions as what to do next?
