I have searched a million threads, so either Im an idiot or Im the first to ask this question:
How should I wire my Single Phase 230v 3/4HP Bridgeport up so that the motor is protected? All the posts I could find were 3 phase motors wiring to Single Phase, but thats not an issue for me because mine is Single Phase.
I have a 230V 50A circuit in my garage for my welders, but Im afraid if I plug it into that circuit the motor would be unprotected from an over amperage situation. According to the data plate on my motor it only pulls 5.8A when wired for 230V. I called around to electrical suppliers, a company that works on motors, and an electrician that we used for home stuff in the past, but they all seemed to either not be sure on a solution or werent interested in helping. One person stated to just install a magnetic start.
